Our friend and architect, Chago, built this house for us. This was truly our dream house, and anything we could think of to include, we included. We always admired the high ceilings of the old houses we visited downtown. So Chago asked me, "How high should I make the ceilings?" I replied, "Well, go as high as you think is reasonable, and then go another meter." We were so pleased with his design, and his construction, that we had this plaque made and installed at the front of the house, as a tribute to our good friend.`

Here our client wanted a garden that was modern, minimalist and easy to keep. The client spent a lot of time in the garden and wanted a shaded place to relax in the hot summer months.We designed a modern, stylish garden with low maintenance planting and pagoda seating area.A garden needs to work both day and night, to overcome this problem we added relaxing lighting. The garden can be used well into the evening for entertaining. The lighting in the pond and fountain add movement as the patterns from the water's surface reflect on the stone walls and adds ambient sound which hides the noise from traffic on the nearby busy road.All this garden was made to scale so timber and materials can be bought to measure.

Keeping the horizontal cypress trellis of the porch, the couple installed storefront windows and sliding doors behind the thin members. Ben acted as his own general contractor and turned to friends Shelley Carder and James Murray for additional help.
